There were almost 80 students from the school competing and all of our students did the school proud not
only in the events they participated in but also in the way they represented the school.
There were many fine performances on the day with a number of long standing records coming close to
being broken. Uchenna Uwechue gave one of his best performances ever when he stormed from 3rd place,
200 metres from home to take victory by 50 metres from his nearest competitor. Also, Matt Kenny won the
javelin event by throwing the javelin in excess of 43 metres, coming close to smashing a long held record.
The girls second year relay team gave an exhibition performance in relay running coming 1st overall.
There were also great performances from Eoin Taggart, Karen, Michelle and Aaron Plunkett, Katie Fannin and
many more.
The combined effort of all our athletes ensured that the school won the overall team award for the
7th year running. Special thanks is due to Mr. Shannon, Mr. Bogomoletz, Ms. Dillon and
Ms. Ryan-Clarke and all teachers involved in sport for their great work in preparing these
fine athletes.
