Senior Girls win Soccer Leinster Final PDF Print
Congratulations to our senior girls soccer team on their fine victory over Loreto, Bray in the Leinster finals.

On Friday 13th May, 2011, Holy Family Community Schools Rathcoole U18 girls won the Leinster Cup with a convincing win over Loreto Bray.  It wasn’t long before H.F.C.S were off the mark with a thundering run down the right wing by Ciara Trant and a tidy finish into the bottom left hand corner.  H.F.C.S made early changes which saw Jade Carter replaced by an in form Claire Walsh.  It wasn’t long before Walsh found herself one on one with the keeper and tucked it neatly into the net.   Weather conditions became unkind but the girls persevered and the third came from a beautiful solo effort from Walsh cutting in from the left flank beating the centre back and tapping it into the net.  The Rathcoole backs  defended well with a constant threat from Bray but Ciara Meenagh, Lynsey Jordan, Gwen O’Reilly and Shauna Bates held strong throughout the half.  Goalkeeper Norah Harney was also solid in keeping Bray scoreless.  3-0 to H.F.C.S at half time.

The second half started much like the first ended with H.F.C.S pushing forward.  Aoife Reilly, Shauna Baldwin and Danielle Lamb controlled the midfield.  The fourth came when Walsh broke down the left touchline whipping a cross in and Trant finished it into the net.  H.F.C.S made substitutes which saw Grace Yeats, Jade Morrissey and Lisa McGrath all enter the field of play while Walsh, Meenagh and Shauna Baldwin all retired to the bench after a magnificent effort on their behalf.  Goal number five came from what seemed to be nothing with Reilly lobbing the keeper from almost 30 yards, a superb finish.  Chloe Murphy’s hard work paid off as she finally got her well-deserved goal with a powerful strike from outside the box leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.  After a tremendous team performance guided by Mr J. Shannon and Ms. F. Ní Fhátharta H.F.C.S. ran out 6-0 winners and were most deserving of the title.
