Following on from our recent information night on Dyslexia, Study Skills Workshops for students with dyslexia are being organised. Students with dyslexia may experience difficulties with organisation, reading, memory and learning, note taking, writing and spelling, which can mean they find it difficult to achieve their potential at second level. However, there are specific strategies that help the student to achieve and which target their specific difficulties.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
- Organisation and goal setting.
- Reading and Comprehension skills.
- Note-taking, memory and learning strategies.
- Writing skills.
- Targeting specific difficulties experienced by students with dyslexia.
The group will be 12 students per workshop. One group for 3rd for 5th and 6th The course is of most benefit when students themselves opt to do it. It would also be relevant to students with other specific learning difficulties such as Aspergers’ or Dyspraxia. The cost of the Study Skills Workshop is €25 per child. If you would like your child to attend a Study Skills Workshop please contact the school by February 13th.
With kind regards.
