Following consultation with staff, the Students Council and the Parents’ Council, Holy Family Community School will be introducing one-hour classes for all students from August 2019 onward. Students were given a letter today, 22nd March, 2019 explaining the rationale behind this change and were also given an outline of the revised structure of the school day for the next academic year. A copy of these letters are shown below. The biggest change is that each day, school will begin at 8.45 am and will end at 3.40 pm except for Wednesday when it will end at 1.00 pm. Students will have a 15 minute morning break from 10.45 am to 11.00 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They will have a 40 minute lunch break from 1.00 pm to 1.40 pm on each of these days as well. Students will have a 15 minute morning break on Wednesday from 10.55 am to 11.10 am.
Students will have six one-hour classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and four 55 minute classes on a Wednesday. Students will also have a 20 minute Tutor Contact class on Wednesday from 10.35 am to 10.55am. The school is confident that these changes will have a positive impact on students’ education and looks forward to the continued support and cooperation of all parents.
