Concern
HFCS has a long-standing tradition for 40 plus years to fundraise for Concern. In the weeks leading up to the Christmas the school focuses on its fundraising for Concern.
A timetable of events is set out in early November which includes a Fast from Technology, a Non-Uniform Day, Church gate Collections, Fundraising Raffles for students and staff. We speak to all new incoming 1st years students about the long-standing tradition the school has for fundraising for Concern. The TY students are very involved with the fundraising and different events.
There is a lot of time and effort to organise and oversee events but as it comes near the end and we can see the fundraising total increase it feels very worthwhile. It is always lovely to hear the local community praising the school and the students when they collect outside the local churches and to hear stories how in their own time as parents and students raised money for Concern. It is also amazing to see some students who raise amazing amounts and the generosity of the local community.
It is always amazing to see the kindness of the students and their willingness to support all of the fundraising efforts. It is a reminder that young people are very generous and willing to support causes that they are close to their hearts.
Each year it is always rewarding to know that our school is one of the top fundraising schools in Ireland and to feed this information back to the students and to keep the tradition alive. Over the 40 plus years over €800,000 has been raised by students and staff.
