Extra-Curricular
We are delighted to introduce our new “Girls in Sport” initiative at HFCS, aimed at promoting, celebrating, and supporting female participation in sport across the school community.
Research and experience show that there is a significant drop‑out rate in girls’ participation in sport during the teenage years. This initiative has been developed to address that challenge by increasing visibility, recognition, and encouragement for our female athletes. We want sport to be something girls feel proud of, supported in, and motivated to continue throughout their time in HFCS.
As part of this initiative, we are launching a school sports jacket designed specifically for female students who represent the school in extracurricular sporting activities. This jacket can be worn as part of the school uniform by girls involved in school teams, helping to make our female athletes visible role models and an inspiration to younger students.
The jacket will:
- Be plain black in colour
- Feature the HFCS school crest
- Include a Girls in Sport logo, designed specifically for this initiative
Our hope is that by celebrating those who take part, we will encourage more girls to stick with sport—or even take it up for the first time—during their years in HFCS.
The Girls in Sport jacket will be available for parents to order via this link https://bourkesports.ie/collections/holy-family-community-school .Together, we hope this initiative will help foster confidence, pride, and lifelong participation in sport for the girls of HFCS.
